Responsible for basic metal fabrication of filtration system components including drag & hinge type conveyors, tanks, separators, filter vessels, interconnecting plumbing/ pipe systems, including high pressure for industry and structural supports. High pressure piping requires working knowledge of carbon steel, stainless steel and different alloy steels.  Must be able to fuse together with means of threading, grooving, bending and welding.  Must demonstrate the ability to join metal pieces to create a product by aligning, measuring, fitting and welding.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

ORGANIZED WORK ENVIRONMENT.   Keeps work station and area around work station neat and orderly (daily).

 

QUALITY INSPECTION AND RECORD KEEPING.  Understands and follows all quality instructions, work instructions and procedures.  Accurately and legibly records information on quality and production related paperwork.

 

SAFETY.  Understands and properly uses all safety devices and equipment at all times.

 

“TEAMWORK ATTITUDE” . Must be able to work as part of a team and a commitment to support group decisions.

 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS (In addition to the above)

 

  1. MIG Welding and TIG welding skills are essential for the successful performance of this job
  2. Must be able to interpret a dimensioned drawing for the purpose of fabricating an object. Demonstrate understanding of GD&T, must be able to understand and interpret specifications.
  3. Must be able to fabricate from informal conceptual drawings
  4. Must be able to independently operate the following equipment:

 

  • Metal Shear
  • Break Press
  • Plasma Cutter
  • Drill Press
  • Hydraulic Press (Metal Muncher)
  • Disc Sander
  • Acetylene Torch
  • Tube and Pipe bender
  • Band Saw
  • Overhead Crane
  • Various Hand Tools
  • Mig and Tig Welder

 

 

  1. Must be able to obtain powered industrial truck permit and crane permit

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE   High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS   Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS   Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and understand metric system.  Have the ability to read calipers and convert English into metric.

 

REASONING ABILITY   Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
